Origonal Cuties

"Origonal Cuties"

KP 6/12

One day at Micheal's, I was on a shopping spree or something. I mean, they have some pretty good deals there and it's hard to leave that place without buying half the store (well, at least for me it is). I was origionaly going in for some stuff for a cosplay I am working on and was wandering around, looking for some other goodies to nab and I stubbled across these. I had seen them several times before and had always thought they were really cute. I mean, tiny canvases. How is that not cool? But, since they are so small, it's like what do you do with them? Well that day, I came up with something.

There are six total canvases, each with the face of my top favorite origional characters of mine. The top row are the three origonals from went my drawing career started out (middle school). They bottom are more recent creations. There are four girls and two boys. I kinda did that for balance?

(Left to right) The top row consists of Pinky, Deamond Reaper, and Soren. The bottom is Anikki, Quirmar (who is an alien), and Lilith (who is a troll).

I plan on connecting them some how so I can display them. I haven't figured out how yet. These were actually hard to make. I kept messing up the placement of the eyes and the skin tones, all of which were hard to fix mind you. I am realy happy with them though and kinda want to do more XD

Hope you guys find them just as cute! (If you are intrested in some of your own, you can commision an order of them!) I would have posted individual pictures but I thought that would take to long :/

Onesie Zoo

***Sorry for the bad picture quality***

For my Step Aunt's baby shower, I made her some custom baby onesies! Her theme for the shower was monkeys and safari animals.

The onsies were tied died first. This was my first tie dye exspericence with more than one color and with a specific pattern ( had had a friend help me with the pattern part). I did this during school when we had 'Hippie Days' or whatever the hell that was.
The images are were hand drawn and colored with copic marker before being scanned and then printed onto tranfering paper/iron ons. There were four total but I only decoated two. Since the baby is going to be born in the summer, it might be too hot for him to wear much so, instead of wearing plan white under clothing, he can wear these cute, colored ones! The white ones can be for going under things.

A lot of people liked them and I was satisfied with how this turned out. I was really worried for a while.
Welp. This is the end of my post. Kinda short. Didn't have much to say but wanted to get this out there any way. Next post will be about my mini canvas project!

Got Two Fatty Tats Not One

(WTF?! No matter what I did, this picture always came out side ways! Why do you hate me?)

Cats. Those little pesky animals that we all could do without yet, we all have at least two of them in our homes. Me, I love cats (though I do get annoyed by them...a lot). Their personalities are so intresting and they're just gorgious! That's why I did these paintings.

The one on top is of Kruze and was done at the beggining of the school year. Jabari was done at the end. So this is an intresting 'before and after' thing going on here to see if I have improved...not really. I love both of them dearly, though I wish I had done kruze's eyes a little diffrently. And for Jabari I would have used a lot less white.

So, that annoyign question all the kids in my art class like to ask during idependent study pressentations: If you were to put these on display/sell them, would you keep them as a set? Why yes unorigonal person, I would indeed keep them together. In fact, I kinda would like to continue this and do all the cat's that have been in my life. It would be a collection, the first one I would have ever done. Then forever I will be known as the Cat Lady!!!

I hope you have enjoyed these! I know I like these more than my other paintings :P Have I mentioned I suck at painting? Oh! Before you go, here are some photos of the paintings with their subjects:

(These were so hard to take because they both thought I wanted to pet them with the canvas when I was just wanting a simple photo!!)

Sorry that I haven't posted in forever! Until next time!

"Paper Spring"
KP 4/12

So I haven't updated in a while due to lack of time/having something prepared to show you all. To make up for it, I posted a highly anticipated piece that I did quite awhile ago but only got back until recently.

For a spring break art project, I was forced to make a sculpture that required there be a piece for every inch I am tall. I'm 5'10ish. That's seventy, stupid, little pieces I had to find and then figure out what the heck to do with them all. I had been playing around with and idea of doing something with cherry blosoms and a single branch. I was in luck since my dad had just trimmed the branches on one of the trees outside.

There are seventy little flowers on this 'tree', each punched out individually, painted, and decorated with glitter and jems. Then there are seventy wires to attach them to the branches and a few have tiny beads on them. Ribbons were also tired on. All of this was put into some quick fix cement in a vase. Waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much work. I literally made this the day before it was due and cried the entire time.

This was just a huge pain in the butt even if it turned out really nice. I got a lot of complements out of it, which is always good to hear. Now that it's done, I'm really proud of it but it has to be my least favorite project. I don't really do well with 3-D sculptures since I'm really bad at creating something that would actually function outside of my mind.

Special thanks to my aunt who lent me her flower stamps and cutter to make all the flowers. Also to my mom who helped me put the thing together and for coming up with a lot of the ideas. You were both very helpful~

'Life In Space'

"Life In Space"
KP 3/12

This was a project that I started back during Spring Break and I was so pumped for it. I was really in love with the character on paper. I worked really hard on this painting and was really disappointed by the out come. I just didn't turn out like I had hoped. It's nice, but not my best work.

I had a lot of problems with the white I bought. I got it in a bigger bottle thinking it would be better but the texture of the paint was super weird. It was all watery like it had seperated and I need to mix it. I also had a hard time witht the nose and eyes which are still not really fixed but I was freaking done with painting this. I also had a hard time trying to give the idea he was behind glass.

Now the painting is of my character Quimar and he's suppose to be like on a space base or something and looking out the window at something. I did edit the picture so it had a weird glow which I think made it look cool (at the end of the blog I'll post a non-edited version so you can see how much it really sucks).

Well, I hope you guys think it's something worth looking at. Sorry for the lack of posting. I'm running out of things to post. Now though I have my scutpture coming back so I'll post that along with my independent study (even though that's on FB but I'll go into more depth on it for you). Thanks again and until then!

Postal Yellow

"Postal Yellow"
The last painting project we did in art was a downtown Roseburg street that we took a photo of. I chose to use the street next to the post office that leads up into the neighborhoods. Eckman wanted it done 'uber, hyper, realistic" bit I don't think anyone ever actually does what he says and neither do I!
For me, landscapes are always made better when done in my main man Van Gogh's style! It's realistic and unrealistic at the same time! It's very thick looking and the colors are always boosted. I tried to do that too but the photo had less yellow than I origonally thought it did and had hoped to intesnify the already exsisting colors but I ended up adding instead. I wanted yellow to be the biggest color in the painting so almost every aspect of it has yellow in it.
***Sorry the colors are not that bright here***
I'm really proud with this painting. The porportions are really off I mean, look at the size of that mail truck compared to everything else! I have no idea what I was thinking when I did it.
I'm also in love with how the outlining really inhanced the image and made the right things pop.
This was suppose to be a one point study. This is where you have a 'vanishing point' (the farthest you can see in the picture) and everything in the photo can be traced back to that point. I can't exsplain it very well but I found this awesome video on youtube that was so helpful ( I have no idea what the video was called or if I saved it but I'm pretty sure if you just type in 'one point perspective' you'll find it. I think the guy's acount thing was called Dragon Tomato or something)! I don't think I'm good at doing this but whatever!
The hardest part was trying to porportion everything right...which I totally failed at. But, I had a lot of fun at this and was really happy with the outcome so that's all that really matters! Unlike the painting I finished recently (you'll possibly see this painint coming up next week).
Thanks for reading once again! Sorry there was no post last week. I ment to but I get so wrapped up in other things that I have to do that I forget I need to do something until it's too late! See ya next week!

Card Board: The Poor Man's Canvas

As I've said once before, Cardboard is just great and really fun to paint on. I use it a lot when I'm in a mood to paint and/or am too cheap to go out and buy a legit canvas. But really, it's better than you would think and thought it was worth devoting a post to.
I first started using it when my stupid art teacher made us use it (partly my fault becuase of this report I did on Edvard Munch). I found
that I actually really liked it and almost prefered it over canvas. With cardboard, you don't feel pressured to produce something fantastic so you can have fun. It was also a great chance for me to get back into painting. I never really painted up until this point so I wasn't that good at it and hadn't done it since middle school.
Like in the picture to the right, cardboard provides a texture and a feel that canvas doesn't really have. it's almost organic or maybe even grungy like you're journalling instead of painting.
Cardboard is also prefect for those projects that you just need to get out of your system but don't want to really invest in anything fancy or whatever. Like with this one; this idea had been at the back of my mind ever since I read JTHM but didn't really want to get a canvas for something that was going to look really cool but be super simple. So, I just busted out a piece of cardboard and painted one of my favorite quotes from the story. I think it was also appropriate because this material is low quality and protrays desperateness, just as the character Jonny feels when he says this.
So yeah. Cardboard is great. Cardboard is good and can be found conviently any where in your house hold for that spur of the moment insperation high. If you're intrested in starting painting but don't want to waste canvases on what could possibly be flops, don't. Just tear up that box that's been sitting in the back of your cuboard and hope to it!
Sorry that this blog wasn't all that special and I hope to make up for it soon. Either way, hope this was somewhat enjoyable and thanks.
